Coach Helsel

Assistant Varsity Coach

Christian Helsel begins his first season with the Bears, and will be a varsity assistant.

Coach Helsel will work with hitters and infielders. A 2012 graduate of Altoona Area High School, Coach Helsel helped lead Altoona HS to their best finish in school history, making it to the final 4 in the 2012 AAAA baseball state tournament.  Following his high school career, Christian moved on to play at the University of Mississippi (SEC) where he made 21 starts at 2B, SS, and 1B and 38 appearances during his Freshman season.  Following an arm injury, Christian transferred to Penn State University (B1G) for his final 3 years of collegiate eligibility, where he graduated with a degree in Nutritional Sciences.  Christian then joined the Birmingham-Bloomfield Beavers in the United Shore Professional Baseball league where he helped the Beavers win back to back titles in 2017 and 2018.


Following his playing career, Christian is now a full time coach as the Director of Player Development for a nationally respected travel baseball organization, US Elite baseball.


Coach Helsel is married to Hannah Helsel.
